Nomads confirm Sulumba return

Mighty Wanderers have confirmed the return of striker Muhammad Sulumba, six years after leaving the club.

Sulumba is returning to Lali Lubani Road following the expiry of his contract with Civil Service (Civo) United.

In an interview yesterday, Wanderers board secretary Humprey Mvula said the striker signed a pre-contract with the team.

He said: “What I can say is that Sulumba signed a pre-contract with Wanderers management team run at that time by chief executive officer Chancy Gondwe.

“The fact that he signed a pre-contract shows that he is interested to play for the team. What remains are discussions relating to personal terms.”

Mvula said the player, who is expected to start training today, joined as a free agent.

“His contract expired and he has joined Wanderers under those conditions,” he said.

Mvula said Wanderers needed such kind of a player with vast experience and a proven scorer.

Commenting on the move, Civo general secretary Ronald Chiwaula said the player left the club with their blessings.

“When he approached us to rejoin Civo, we agreed on a two-year contract to keep himself fit while waiting for a big deal.

“ Of course, we would have loved to extend his stay because he was our top player for two seasons, scoring nine goals in each season, but he decided otherwise.”

Sulumba left Wanderers for Bullets in 2016.
